Hey Friend, I’m Sara, the homeschool adventure mom.
I’m so glad you’re here. Welcome!
I’m a homeschool mama to 5 boys ages 4-12, and wife to one amazing husband (who prefers to remain anonymous, so you won’t see much of him here). I love to share my passion for adventure and homeschool and how we’ve turned them into a lifestyle.
My Story
When I was a child my family spent several years in the BVI (British Virgin Islands in the Caribbean) living on a sailboat and attending a tiny, nearly one-room school with about 15 other students. I adored our travels and the unique experiences of island life, taking off to sail to other islands on weekends. I lived for the days of pretending I was an explorer as I wandered through new territory, and spent every possible hour underwater imagining I was a mermaid, or at least friend to all sea life.
With a love of travel and adventuring in my blood, I went on to attend a college that offered a few opportunities to study abroad. I spent time living in Australia and England, and made it a goal to explore as many new places and countries as I could.
After college, I started dating the love of my life and we loaded up my tiny VW golf and road tripped from New Jersey to San Diego where we would get married and start a family. But our adventures didn’t end here… little did I know, they had only just begun.
Today
As a mom, much of our life reflects my childhood passions for the outdoors and wildlife. We love camping, roadtripping, and part-time living in our tiny travel trailer. We’ve also adopted a slow paced, intentional life so that we have time for cultivating family culture. Having a thriving family is incredibly important to us, so we prioritize time together so that we can raise our boys up to be men who love God and are good stewards of His creation.
If we weren’t a travel family, I would likely be homesteading. I adore farm animals and find beauty in living off the land. Unfortunately, I have a black thumb when it comes to plants. But I am often found in the kitchen, baking fresh sourdough and trying new recipes to keep our family fed on healthy, clean foods. I also enjoy sewing and creating handcrafted beverages (you can find me on Sundays serving on our church’s cafe team).
My Hope
I hope you will find some inspiration here to cut back on all of the physical and mental clutter that comes with today’s typical culture, and to adopt a slower, more intentional way of life. That you will be emboldened to go adventuring with your family, and that your relationships will thrive as a result. And if you need a little extra encouragement, come visit us over on Instagram and join the conversation. I would love to see you and your family thriving and finding joy in this homeschool adventure lifestyle.
